Parenting becomes more about being there for your child and less about doing everything and still getting stressed out. Most importantly it is about being flexible and being real.
Is parenting tough? People often say that it has a reputation for being the toughest job in the world. Is it really?
Or maybe it is a job full of sleepless nights and responsibilities. So, does this mean that parenting is really hard, or do you feel that you are standing halfway through it?
The answer is not as simple as we think it is.
The Weight of Responsibility
Parenting responsibility is not only about taking care of their child, but also about shaping an individual in the best way possible. The responsibility of a child is a lot in itself. Each and every decision taken by the parents about their child is important and not something that can be neglected. From what your child eats to how they look at things or feel about them. All these things are very important responsibilities and can be very heavy to carry. Even taking the slightest decision about their child feels like pressure, making parenting look very difficult.
The Emotional Intensity
Parenting is an emotional rollercoaster. Sometimes it will make you feel like the strongest person, but sometimes you will be the weakest. A small fever can be scary. A big win can make you stand on the top of the world. There will be sad and happy kinds of days. When your child is struggling, you will not feel less struggle. But again, it will be your responsibility to handle such situations smartly and make your child smart enough that he or she can handle it later in life on their own.
The Myth of Perfect Parenting
One of the challenges that parents generally face is the idea of doing it "perfectly."
They feel a lot of pressure to always be patient, to think that the decisions they have made are always correct, and that they did not make any mistakes. However, the truth is that they become parents after their child has been born, and they grow as parents along with the growth of their child, all this while growing and learning, while handling their own lives - personal or professional.
It is completely fine to make mistakes, to feel insecure and unsure about things. But that's what learning means. And the most important thing is that your "efforts" matter more than anything else.
Rather than allowing yourself to experience it, why do you expect to handle it perfectly?
It is how you look at it and how you feel about it.
It is demanding, unpredictable, and emotionally charged. The tasks are not always hard, but the pressure of performing them is. If you take a step back and think about it, you might realize that not every part of it is hard. Some are easy. Some are fun. Some are chaotic. Some are peaceful.
Parenting becomes more about being there for your child and less about doing everything and still getting stressed out. Most importantly it is about being flexible and being real.
The thing that makes parenting feel overwhelming is the love, the weight of responsibility, the desire to do what is best for their child, and fulfill all their demands, which, in the end, makes it meaningful.
In the end, parenting is not only about raising their child but also growing with them and learning too. It's not a test in life to pass; it's a feeling and a journey that you walk on with your child hand-in-hand.
