Summary:

One honest step at a time is "enough." It doesn't mean you are lost. You are simply just on your way.

When You Do Not Know What Comes Next

The road we thought we were on begins to blur at the edges. And all the things that once felt like a plan stop feeling certain.

In these moments, it is easy to feel like we are falling behind. Like we should have figured it out by now, whatever “it” is. But maybe the truth is softer than that. Maybe not knowing what comes next isn’t a failure. Maybe it’s a pause.

Life will not always move on a straight, planned path. Sometimes we are supposed to act, other times it might be the time to just sit back and reflect. We would like to believe that clarity can be found by rushing through life and making everything perfect around us. But it just doesn’t work like that, as clarity can only be found when we try less to control it.

It is the same way as how a seed blossoms into a flower inside the earth without any noise, how the sky becomes a palette of colours before sunrise and sunsets, and how a caterpillar slowly and gradually turns into a beautiful butterfly. Just like that, the same thing happens in life. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect or in the way you want, but in the end, it will lead us to our own direction.

There is a line by poet Rilke that whispers gently in times like this:

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.”

What a thought to remember. Those questions can be a light too, not because they shine forward but because they keep us close to our wondering hearts.

Think of someone who carefully followed every plan. They finished their studies on time, took the practical job, and made plans for the next five years. Then, one day, the plans stopped feeling real. Things weren't going very well, but mentally they felt far away. Your feet stopped instead of taking another step. They took a break. Your mind looked into their small interests again.
A spark occurs in you while attending a workshop or seminar. This isn't the full answer; it's just the beginning of something we had lost.

"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward." - Steve Jobs

You are not the only one who doesn't know what the next step is. Many people have doubts. This moment is not a waste of time. It could be the place where something new is getting ready to happen.

You do not have to figure everything out right now. One honest step at a time is "enough." It doesn't mean you are lost. You are simply just on your way.
